The Saviour Not Made by Hands (Spas Nerukotvorny) was a revered icon placed above the inner gate of the Spasskaya Tower in the Moscow Kremlin, which gave the tower its modern name. Originally brought from Khlynov (now Kirov) by order of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich in 1647, the icon was installed inside the tower in 1658 and remained there until it was removed following the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution.
